Overview

Forest Hill Field Club is a private golf and country club located in Bloomfield, NJ, located 15 miles away from New York City. At more than a century old, the Club is home to a pristine 18-hole Tillinghast-designed golf course and features amenities that are sure to please everyone. This historical haven promotes a young, fun, family atmosphere. The Membership is close-knit and friendly, with many social events, family events, and Member tournaments throughout the year.

FHFC has been host to numerous NJGolf, MGA, New Jersey PGA section and other regional tournaments, including the 2024 NJGolf State Amateur. The golf course was also restored in 2022 by Tom Kite. Our members and their families and guests play approximately 22,000 rounds annually from March through December. Our family-friendly atmosphere not only provides golf but also an aquatics center for the entire family to enjoy.

Experience Required

• Professional Golf Management graduates with 2-5 years' experience as an Assistant Professional are preferred.
• The successful candidate must be energetic, very visible, easily approachable, pro-active in nature, and possess a strong desire to learn the skills necessary to become a Head Golf Professional.
• Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, instruction, fitting, club repair, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations.
• Experienced computer user, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in other applications, i.e. email, internet, Golf Genius, golf handicap software, and point-of-sale.

Essential Responsibilities

The First Assistant Golf Professional should have a strong desire to become a Head Golf Professional. The First Assistant Golf Professional will be responsible for the following:

Operational Support: Act as a "right hand" to the Head Professional and senior staff. Your goal is to proactively handle administrative and operational tasks so the senior team can focus on high-level management and member relations.

Tournament Operations: Assist in the planning and execution of member tournaments and outings. This includes setting up the Golf Genius software, preparing scorecards, proximity markers, and managing the results/scoring process.

Member Engagement: Build strong relationships with the membership. Provide high level of member service, and play golf with members when the schedule permits.

Programming & Instruction: Lead the development and growth of Junior Golf programs and adult clinics. You will be the primary point of contact for program registration, curriculum planning, and on-course instruction.

Pro Shop Leadership: Help manage the daily shop flow. This includes accurate member check-in, tee-sheet management via club essential, and ensuring the shop remains clean, neat and restocked at all times.
