OverviewAlabama State University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, masters, educational specialist, and doctorate. Alabama State University also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels.
Essential Responsibilities
General Summary
In accordance with the mission of the Department of Athletics, the Assistant Golf Coach will assist in administering the progress and success of the intercollegiate women's Golf program within the guidelines of the NCAA, the SWAC Conference, and Alabama State University. This includes all pre-season, in-season, and post-season activities necessary to develop a nationally competitive team.
Responsibilities & Duties
• Pre-season, in-season, and post-season activities are necessary for the development of a nationally competitive team.
• Assist in coordinating all student-athletes evaluation, recruitment, preparation, and development.
Such evaluation and recruitment activities may include but are not limited to:
• Identifying, contacting, and recruiting prospective student-athletes by phone, mail, and other forms of correspondence. Provide input to the head coach on practice and/ or game strategy.
• Traveling to various locations throughout the state of Alabama and across the country to meet and evaluate in person prospective student-athletes.
• Assisted in all aspects of the preparation and development of golf athletes.
• Such activities may include but are not limited to planning practice sessions, video analysis of performance, providing feedback, and encouraging positive performance.
• Operation of yearly camps and clinics on campus and assisting in the coordination of all team travel in a manner that reflects fiscally responsible University resource management.
• Assist in alumni and community outreach events and all other events related to growing the Alabama State University Athletics brand.
Such activities may include but are not limited to
• Planning alumni events, engaging alumni and fans, attending other sporting events, and participating in community outreach events.
• Knowledge of and adherence to all NCAA rules, policies, and procedures.
Education & Experience
• Bachelor's Degree. Preferred Requirements
• Industry Professional (Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) or Professional Golf Association (PGA)
Required Certifications/Licenses
• Driver's License.
• Annual NCAA Recruiting certification.
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to handle the physical demands of training golf student-athletes.
Other Skills & Abilities Required
• Proven Golf experience.
• Demonstrated experience in working in a diverse urban and/or intercollegiate athletics
environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs.
• Knowledge and practice related to relevant video and statistical analysis software.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage
multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Dedication to serving the Athletic Department, Alabama State University, and the student-
athletes with the highest level of leadership, initiative, and integrity.
• A working knowledge of NCAA, Southwestern Athletic Conference, and University rules and
regulations as they apply to intercollegiate athletics.
