Description
OverviewCherry Hills Country Club is seeking an Assistant Golf Professional in Training (AIT) to join our golf professional team. This full-time position is designed for an individual who is passionate about golf, committed to exceptional member service, and interested in developing a long-term career as a PGA Professional.
The AIT will receive structured training, mentorship and hands-on experience across all areas of a high-performing private-club golf operation. The position is intended to provide a strong foundation in golf operations, tournament administration, merchandising, player development, member relations and outside operations while supporting the individual's continued professional development and progression toward PGA membership.
Cherry Hills Country Club is one of the nation's most storied clubs, with a history that includes hosting 14 USGA and PGA championships, including three U.S. Opens. The Club features 27 holes of golf, including an 18-hole championship course and a 9-hole par-3 course. Our active membership plays more than 27,000 rounds annually, and our golf operation is recognized for excellence in player development, retail, tournament programming and member service.
Position Summary
The AIT is a full-time, PGA-track position that provides exposure to all areas of the golf operation through structured training and departmental experience. The successful candidate will work closely with the Golf Professional and Golf Services team while gaining hands-on experience in tournament operations, merchandising, instruction, player development, golf services, outside operations, caddie operations and member engagement.

Experience Required
- Passion for golf and a strong desire to pursue a career as a PGA Professional.
- Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules and etiquette.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine interest in working with and serving members.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment.
- Highly motivated, organized and eager to learn.
- Professional demeanor with a strong service-oriented mindset.
- Commitment to continued development of golf knowledge, playing ability and professional skills.
- Interest in pursuing PGA membership and a long-term career in the golf industry.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability and willingness to learn new technology and golf-industry systems.
- Prior golf, hospitality or private-club experience is preferred, but not required.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist with daily golf operations, including tee sheet management, golf services, outside operations and practice facility operations.
- Provide exceptional service to members and guests while developing knowledge of member names, preferences, playing habits and service expectations.
- Build genuine relationships with members and guests and consistently anticipate their needs.
- Assist with the preparation and execution of member tournaments, competitions and junior golf programs.
- Develop proficiency in tournament administration, scoring, rules and event operations.
- Participate in retail operations, including merchandising, inventory management, point-of-sale operations and special orders.
- Assist with club fittings, basic club repair and equipment maintenance.
- Participate in caddie operations and gain an understanding of the Club's caddie program.
- Assist with player-development initiatives, junior golf programming and instructional activities.
- Participate in staff meetings, departmental rotations and scheduled professional-development sessions.
- Develop proficiency with golf-industry technology, tee sheet, tournament-management and point-of-sale systems.
- Pursue continued education and professional development consistent with the requirements and expectations of a PGA Professional career.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Golf Professional staff.
