Overview

The Assistant Superintendent supports the daily operations of the Golf Course Maintenance department. This role includes assisting with turfgrass and plant material maintenance, property and asset management, expense forecasting, irrigation scheduling and maintenance, pesticide application, recordkeeping, and regulatory compliance as directed by the Superintendent.

Experience Required

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Golf Course Maintenance.
• Current State Pesticide Applicators License or successful completion within 90 days of employment.
• Valid driver's license.
• Preferred: Associate degree in Turf Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.
• Preferred: General knowledge of business administration practices and golf course operations practices and procedures.
• Preferred: Strong technical knowledge of equipment, products, and resources related to Golf Course Operations.
• Preferred: Ability to implement resources to meet or exceed company and club standards.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist the 1st Assistant Superintendent/Superintendent in providing agronomic direction for healthy growth of grasses, trees, wetlands, and other plant materials on the golf course and clubhouse grounds.
• Coordinate the application and documentation of chemical treatments, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Support oversight of the crew, including scheduling and assigning tasks as directed.
• Provide hands-on training to employees in technical skills, operations, and safety in adherence with OSHA standards and club protocols.
• Ensure safe use and proper maintenance of golf course mechanical equipment.
• Assist in implementing maintenance programs established by the 1st Assistant Superintendent/Superintendent.
• Participate in regular meetings with management and staff to review operations, maintenance, golf activities, and safety and environmental concerns.
• Assist others as needed and take on additional tasks assigned by management.
• Follow company, club, and department policies, procedures, and instructions.
• Maintain professionalism and a commitment to excellence in interactions with members, colleagues, and staff.
• Follow safe working practices and encourage others to do the same.
• Take initiative in personal and professional growth and maintain required certifications.
