Description
Controller / CFO In Training
This is a new position which will report to the Chief Financial Officer. The Controller will be hands-on working and overseeing a variety of areas, including; Payroll, Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Budgeting, Financial Reporting, Annual Audits, Fixed Assets, Information Systems, 401k Administration, Medicare/caid Cost Reporting, Sales Tax, IRS form 990, IRS form 5500, etc.
Full-time, Salaried Exempt
Office hours are Monday – Friday
Requirements
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience with monthly financial close and reporting (both internal and external)
- Experience with coordination of external audits
- Ability to interpret and analyze financial statements
- Knowledgeable with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Experience with budgeting process, forecasting and planning
- Experience with payroll processing, tax reporting, wage and hour laws, and related software applications
- 401k plan experience (administration, audits, ERISA rules, etc.)
- Healthcare-related experience with reimbursement, billing, cost reports, etc. preferred
- Accounts Payable processing and 1099 reporting experience
- Knowledge of bond financing, reporting and compliance
- Advanced proficiency with MS Word and Excel
- Demonstrated success in providing leadership and supervision of staff and projects
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and make timely decisions
- Effective in problem solving, and attention for details
- Ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences
- Able to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Able to work effectively with all levels of management, staff and employees
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- CPA license preferred
- Minimum 5 years work related experience
- Previous public accounting experience is highly valued
