Position Summary
General Equipment Rental is seeking an experienced, dependable mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair a diverse fleet of construction, landscaping, and general rental equipment.

This is a hands-on position for a mechanic who is a strong troubleshooter, works independently, communicates clearly, and follows repairs through from diagnosis to completion. Rental-industry experience is preferred but not required; we welcome experienced mechanics from related fields who are comfortable working on a wide variety of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair rental equipment and tools
• Work with gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine equipment inspections
• Identify needed parts and communicate repair needs clearly
• Complete work orders and maintain accurate, timely repair and service records
• Perform field service and road-call repairs when needed
• Test repaired equipment to ensure it is safe, functional, and rental-ready
• Assist with loading, unloading, and equipment movement as needed
• Help customers and employees with equipment operation and troubleshooting
• Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient shop and work area

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic ability
• Experience repairing construction, rental, diesel, or similar equipment
• Working knowledge of engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical systems
• Ability to troubleshoot unfamiliar equipment and find practical solutions
• Ability to work independently, prioritize repairs, and follow through on assigned work
• Ability and willingness to document work accurately and promptly
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position

Additional Position Information

• Employment Type: Full-time
• Work Setting: On-site equipment rental and repair facility
• Primary Focus: Maintenance, diagnosis, repair, and safe return-to-service of rental equipment
• Experience: Equipment-rental experience is preferred, but strong mechanics from related industries are encouraged to apply
• Training: Additional rental-equipment and manufacturer training may be provided as appropriate
• Work Style: This position requires reliability, initiative, organization, good judgment, and the ability to manage multiple repairs without losing track of their status

• Ability to use diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely
• Ability to read and use service manuals, diagrams, and technical information
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple repairs and priorities
• Ability to accurately document repairs, parts needs, and work performed
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Ability to perform field service and road-call repairs when required
• Ability to safely lift, move, and work around heavy equipment and components
• Dependable attendance and ability to work a full-time schedule
