Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties has a full-time opportunity for a General Counsel / Vice President of Risk Management & Legal Strategy in Anaheim, CA.
This is a hybrid position (3 days on-site/2 days remote).
Reporting to the President/CEO, the General Counsel/Vice President of Risk Management and Legal Strategy is responsible for the planning, development, and execution of the legal, corporate governance, business contracts, ethics, and enterprise risk management programs that are core to the mission of Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties (PPOSBC). Leads the in-house Legal Department, as well as the security and business continuity team, providing leadership and mentorship. The General Counsel partners with internal stakeholders and state and national experts to monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the organization and provide strategic legal guidance and recommendations. This position develops legal strategy and framework to support organizational strategic initiatives and is a member of the Executive Leadership Team. Serves as senior legal advisor for executive management and Board of Directors. Also serves as General Counsel to the Community Action Fund of Orange and San Bernardino Counties (a 501(c)4 organization). Establishes and manages relationships with external legal counsel, other professional advisors, and key external partners.

Requirements
Licensure and/or Certification Requirements:
- State bar membership in good standing, either California or Registered In-House Counsel in California with substantive California law knowledge.
Minimum Education:
- A Juris Doctorate from an accredited university is required.
Minimum Relevant Professional Experience:
- Must have healthcare experience.
- Minimum 10 years work experience in a majority of the following areas: corporate and board governance; healthcare regulatory law; medical professional liability management; civil litigation; complex contracting; federal and state privacy and protected health information laws and regulations; enterprise risk management; California employment and labor law; commercial real estate; patient safety processes; security/law enforcement-related legal and risk issues; and nonprofit, political activity, and election law.
- Experience in reproductive health space, highly preferred.
- Experience at the VP level or equivalent role (e.g., officer, director, or other organizational decision-making role) highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability as an effective executive-level leader including coaching and team-building skills, delegation, critical thinking skills, and strategic solutions-based communication.

- Must demonstrate high-level computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Electronic medical records experience may also be required.
- Ability and willingness to travel to and visit Planned Parenthood centers.
- This position requires travel to other sites and locations; if using a personal vehicle to meet this requirement, a valid CA driver’s license and current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of CA vehicle code are required.
- Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPOSBC locations and by all PPOSBC employees, and supporting these critical services is an essential job duty and fundamental responsibility of all employees.
