Description:
Job Summary
The Material Handler is responsible for safely and accurately moving, storing, receiving, and distributing materials, supplies, and equipment within a manufacturing environment. This position supports production by maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring materials are available when needed.
Responsibilities
- Receive, identify, store, issue, and distribute materials and equipment.
- Accurately count inventory and complete computer system entries and documentation.
- Tag, prepare, and route shipments using designated carriers.
- Pull and stage parts for work orders and production needs.
- Perform cycle counts and replenish stock.
- Store materials and finished goods in designated locations.
- Safely operate a forklift after completing required certification or training.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, inspectors, and team members.
- Maintain dependable attendance to support production schedules.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of material handling experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with inventory management or warehouse systems.
- Familiarity with ERP systems is a strong advantage.
- Previous forklift operating experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
- Ability to accurately count inventory and complete computer-based system entries.
- Ability to learn and identify parts, materials, and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to follow work orders, safety instructions, and established procedures.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, twist, stand, walk, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods.
Shift Hours and Overtime
- First shift: 5:00 a.m.1:30 p.m.
- Overtime is scheduled as needed.
- Overtime is usually voluntary but may occasionally be mandatory. Employees must be available to work required overtime.
Additional Information
- This position works in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, smoke, and fumes typical of the industry.
- Advanced knowledge of inventory control and cycle-counting processes is preferred.
