The PTA is responsible for promoting, facilitating, and maintaining health, well-being, and participation in life.This individual is responsible for all aspects of physical therapy assistant service delivery provided under a physician approved plan of care and accountable for the safety and effectiveness of the physical therapy assistant service delivery process.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities of the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
- Develop and implement individualized therapy programs to restore, reinforce, and enhance patient performance.
- Identify the need for and make referrals to other healthcare disciplines as necessary to address the comprehensive needs of the patient.
- Instruct, educate, and train patients and caregivers in skills and functions essential for promoting patient independence, improving quality of life, and diminishing or correcting pathology.
- Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants, provisional licensees, students, and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards.
- Develop personalized care plans using a variety of treatment techniques.
- Provide quality, personalized, and evidence-based care using proven interventions.
- Promote clients' healthy lifestyles by improving their strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination.
- Continuously evaluate patient progress, monitor outcomes, and communicate updates effectively with the interdisciplinary team
Requirements of Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA):
- Associate's degree from a CAPTE-accredited program Active state Physical Therapy license in good standing
- Current CPR
- At least one (1) year experience working in a Skilled Nursing Facility preferred
- Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and priorities at once
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality and integrity of the position
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care
