Primary Care Physician – South Peninsula Hospital
Location: Homer, Alaska
Position Type: Full-Time (4-day work week)
South Peninsula Hospital is seeking a Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physician to join our outpatient primary care team. This role offers a balanced schedule, strong support staff, and the chance to practice meaningful, relationship-focused care in one of Alaska’s most scenic communities.
Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation: MGMA 75th percentile, adjusted every two years on a regular cycle

Schedule & Work-Life Balance
- Four 10-hour clinic days per week
- 8 hours of patient contact + 2 hours of administrative time each day
- 30-minute lunch
- Typical patient sessions: 8:30–11:30 a.m. and 1:00–4:30 p.m.
- Patients scheduled in 30/60-minute appointments
- Average panel: 14–16 patients per day
- No call
Scope of Practice & Clinical Environment
- 100% outpatient primary care
- Epic EMR with systemwide rollout
- Dragon dictation and DAX ambient scribe technology
- Onsite lab and imaging
- Ready access to specialists who hold regular clinics at SPH, including ENT, urology, endocrinology, oncology, neurology, pulmonology, nephrology, podiatry, audiology, and more
- Radiologist available for consults and procedures, including injections
Support Staff & Team Structure
- Pod-based MA and nursing support
- Medicare wellness RN
- Dedicated care coordinator
- On-call orthopedics and general surgery available daily
- Collaborative primary care team with strong leadership backing
Qualifications
- Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
- Eligibility for Alaska medical licensure
