Location: Rensselaer, NY Category: Research Foundation Careers Job Type: Exempt Posted On: Fri Jun 5 2026 Job Description:The Professional Development Program (PDP) of the University at Albany's Rockefeller College seeks a service-minded individual who is committed to performing high-quality work to fill a Regional Office Project Associate position in Rensselaer, NY within PDP's Department of Training and Technical Assistance to Support LDSS Permanency Planning. This position requires 40% travel throughout NYS.
Description of Duties:
he focus of this position is to improve functioning of local county departments of social services and voluntary agencies while working closely with staff of the project's sponsor, the NYS Office of Children and Family Services, to achieve goals of safety, permanency, and well-being in accordance with current state and national legislation, performance standards, and accepted best practice standards. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing training, technical assistance, and consultation to sponsor and local districts.
- Conducting district specific needs assessments.
- Assessing training needs and developing and implementing plans to address needs identified in case reviews.
- Providing support to counties and agencies to understand data and apply data to case practice.
- Preparing quarterly reports, routine and other special reports.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications :
- Master's degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization and 3 years of child welfare experience; OR Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization and minimum of 7 years of child welfare experience.
- Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.
- Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging, relative to their role.
- Knowledge of recent federal and New York State child welfare initiatives.
- Excellent writing, speaking, training delivery and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively write and critique training objectives, curricula, and educational materials (print and electronic).
- Thorough knowledge of traditional and non-traditional adult training methods and commitment to developing/delivering performance-based training that incorporates adult learning principles.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and within teams.
- Strong team and customer orientation and successful experience in coaching, motivating, and developing skills of staff.
- Demonstrated proficiencies using Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Edge, and document and presentation templates.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to work variable days and work hours and travel regularly throughout NYS to deliver trainings and attend meetings, including travel to areas that may not be served by public transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a child protective services worker.
Additional Information:
Salary Range : $72,000-$74,500 (annual)
