OverviewOverview
The Seasonal Assistant Golf Professional is an integral member of the Golf Professional Staff and supports the daily operations of the Golf Department during The Fountains Country Club's peak season. This hands-on position requires a motivated, professional, and member-focused PGA Member who demonstrates initiative, dependability, flexibility, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
The successful candidate will assist with golf shop operations, tournaments, member events, practice facilities, outside operations, teaching, playing golf with members, and other areas of the golf operation as needed.
Experience Required
Qualifications
- PGA Member in good standing.
- Private club or golf operation experience preferred.
- Knowledge of tournament operations and the Rules of Golf.
- Strong communication, organization, and member-service skills.
- Professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for a private club.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and work effectively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated initiative, dependability, attention to detail, and follow-through.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop positive relationships with members and guests.
- Ability to remain professional and composed in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays, early mornings, evenings, and extended hours during the season.

- Ability to perform the physical responsibilities associated with daily golf operations.
- Ability to lift, carry, move, and organize golf shop and tournament materials as required.
- Ability to assist with tournament setup and breakdown.

Essential Responsibilities
Golf Operations
- Assist with daily golf shop and golf course operations.
- Support opening and closing procedures.
- Assist with tee sheet management, member charges, telephone and email communication, and special requests.
- Maintain a professional, organized, clean, and member-ready golf shop.
- Communicate relevant golf, course, and club information to members, guests, and staff.
- Assist with member and guest check-in procedures and ensure proper communication of applicable golf policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with the Golf Professional Staff, Golf Shop Merchandising team, Outside Operations, Golf Course Maintenance, Food and Beverage, and other club departments.
- Assist with the management of daily play, practice facilities, and other golf-related activities.
- Support the full scope of daily golf operations throughout the season.
- Maintain a visible presence in the golf shop and throughout the golf operation.
- Assist with maintaining a high standard of service, organization, and attention to detail throughout the department.
- Assist with tournament registration, pairings, flights, scorecards, cart assignments, signage, scoreboards, and participant communication.
- Support tournament setup, scoring, result verification, prizes, payouts, and post-event responsibilities.
- Assist with Club Championships, Member-Guest events, men's and ladies' events, couples events, league events, and other member tournaments.
- Assist with outside tournaments and special golf events as directed.
- Apply knowledge of the Rules of Golf and support pace-of-play monitoring.
- Assist with tournament check-in and ensure players receive appropriate information and materials.
- Coordinate with other departments during tournaments and special events.
- Assist with tournament cleanup and restoration of the golf operation following events.
- Provide a welcoming, professional, and attentive experience for members and guests.
- Become familiar with member preferences, playing habits, and club programs.
- Respond to questions and requests in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
- Maintain a visible and approachable presence throughout the golf operation.
- Build positive relationships with members through daily interaction and exceptional service.
- Play golf with members when appropriate to build relationships and support the overall member experience.
- Assist members with golf-related questions, tee time requests, tournament information, instruction, and other golf needs.
- Represent The Fountains Country Club professionally at all times.
- Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
- Assist with point-of-sale transactions, member charges, special orders, and daily golf shop responsibilities.
- Provide knowledgeable merchandise assistance to members and guests.
- Help receive, price, tag, stock, and organize merchandise.
- Support inventory counts, displays, seasonal shop transitions, and retail events.
- Assist with maintaining proper organization and presentation of golf shop merchandise.
- Support member communication regarding new merchandise, promotions, events, and special orders.
- Work collaboratively with the Golf Shop Merchandising team.
- Proficiency with Golf Genius tournament management software.
- Proficiency with the club's tee sheet and golf reservation system.
- Experience with JONAS POS is preferred.
- Working knowledge of the GHIN Handicap System.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to learn and utilize club-specific technology and communication platforms.
