Description
Speech Language Pathologist - SLP Chicago Imagine stepping into a role that empowers voices and fosters connections across generations. As a Speech Language Pathologist in the bustling heart of Chicago, your journey will extend beyond addressing communication and swallowing challenges. You will be the catalyst unlocking doors to potential, restoring confidence, and creating meaningful human interactions — from children discovering their first words to older adults regaining their independence. This position offers a unique chance to reach diverse populations throughout their lifespan, blending outpatient therapy with opportunities for inpatient support. Whether your passion lies in guiding toddlers through language development, aiding adults with neurogenic communication disorders, or supporting seniors with cognitive-linguistic rehabilitation, you will find fulfillment and flexibility in this dynamic environment. Responsibilities Conduct thorough evaluations for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients utilizing standardized assessments and observational techniques. Craft personalized treatment plans that address both short-term objectives and long-term speech, cognitive, or swallowing needs. Deliver focused one-on-one speech therapy interventions emphasizing communication, language, fluency, voice, and swallowing. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, families, and caregivers to develop cohesive care strategies. Provide education for patients and their families to foster progress beyond clinical sessions. Assist with inpatient evaluations and interventions to guarantee a seamless continuum of care. Ensure timely and accurate clinical documentation in adherence to all guidelines and regulations. Advance your expertise through ongoing education and professional collaboration. Qualifications A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution. A completed Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if you are not yet ASHA-certified. Valid State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist. Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 30 days of employment. Skills Expertise in evidence-based treatment methods for all age groups, with a robust foundation in developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders. Exceptional interpersonal communication skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary care teams. Adept at adapting therapy approaches to accommodate diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving capabilities. Proficient with electronic medical records and documentation procedures. Benefits Competitive salary based on experience. Flexible scheduling to support a healthy work-life balance alongside varied caseloads. Opportunities for specialization in pediatrics, adult neurological rehabilitation, or geriatrics. Paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay. Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans. Reimbursement for continuing education and support for professional development. A collaborative, team-oriented environment emphasizing quality care and lifelong learning. A Career That Inspires Movement In this role, you're not merely providing speech therapy; you're becoming a vital part of a mission that celebrates voices, encourages connection, and fosters joy through simple yet profound human interactions. You'll work alongside professionals who treat each other like family, in a culture that champions teamwork over competition. Each patient has a narrative; we trust you to help shape their story. Why You'll Adore Life and Work Here In Chicago, life pulses with the vibrant energy of innovation blended seamlessly with a strong sense of community. Nestled along the shimmering shores of Lake Michigan, this metropolis is a sanctuary for those seeking a rich blend of culture, nature, and unending professional opportunities. Who We're Eager to Welcome We're looking for a Speech Language Pathologist who motivates by outcomes and compassion. Someone who sees a reserved child and envisions vibrant self-expression, who hears the faltering words of a stroke survivor and perceives unwavering determination. Let's Discover the Heartfelt Words Together If you believe speech transcends mere sound, and therapy extends beyond tasks — if you cherish building trust before setting goals, and value laughter alongside language — then this could be your next career milestone.
