Position Summary
The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for analyzing, developing, and enhancing the operation of all aspects of a college-wide data lake and business intelligence support. The primary role is to assemble and transform data into actionable knowledge for the use of college leaders and administrators, including: executive-level reports and dashboards; designing, building, and normalizing data and databases; and locating and extracting data from the College's enterprise systems and other internal and external data resources. The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for creating, implementing, and maintaining data lakes and business intelligence applications, and databases.
Essential Responsibilities
- Prepares reporting, analytics, and dashboard development from concept to implementation.
- Analyzes, develops, and interprets data needs for end users.
- Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the enterprise-wide reporting systems and data warehouse solutions.
- Serves as a resource to all levels of management for reviewing, analyzing, designing/creating, and implementing institutional reports, dashboards, and data warehouse solutions.
- Provides training and documentation on reporting systems and solutions as needed for all levels of staff.
- Understands conceptual and physical data models using relational and dimensional data modeling techniques.
- Maintains system storage structures for warehousing systems needed for reporting solutions.
- Deliver quality customer services to both internal and external constituents in a professional, helpful, and courteous manner.
- Perform established maintenance tasks to keep the reporting platform going, including license management, data bridge service management, validation of scheduled refreshes, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree is required. Any and all must be from a recognized institutional accreditor.
- A minimum of 5 years in a higher education administrative environment.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience performing data analytics and data science solutions.
- A minimum of 5 years of work-related database management and developing reporting solution experience is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of developing business intelligence solutions and an understanding of key concepts in higher education derived from databases and/or data lake applications is required.
- Knowledge of relational database management systems and concepts, and experience with Oracle (9i or higher) database, and SQL required.
- Experience in report development using Argos, Tableau, and reporting tools in a higher education environment required.
- Ability to carry out assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision required.
- Ability to efficiently and professionally communicate with client personnel and co-workers required.
- Ability to maintain sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds required.
Preferred Qualifications
- A master's degree is preferred.
- Extensive experience in Ellucian's suite of products preferred.
- Knowledge and/or experience with PL/SQL, HTML, XML, and Java preferred.
- Knowledge of data modeling, star schema, and denormalized data models preferred.
- Experience with Ellucian's Banner system, Operational Data Store, or Enterprise Data Warehouse, and Amazon Web Services preferred.
