Grimms Chirp is a German company based in Mexico, specializing in the manufacture of thermoforming molds, foaming molds, and control fixtures—all for the automotive industry.
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and bilingual Technical Sales Engineer with a solid engineering background in automotive tooling. In this role, you will bridge the gap between commercial sales and technical execution, working closely with clients to understand their manufacturing requirements for thermoforming, foaming, and pinch molds, as well as checking fixtures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive technical sales and business development for custom automotive tooling, molds, and quality fixtures.
- Provide technical consultation to automotive OEMs and Tier 1/Tier 2 suppliers regarding tooling design, feasibility, and manufacturing processes.
- Travel regularly to visit existing and prospective client facilities across the region.
- Prepare comprehensive customer visit logs, meeting summaries, and technical trip reports to submit directly to executive management.
- Collaborate with internal engineering, tool shop, and quoting teams to develop accurate technical proposals, RFQs, and cost estimates.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with key engineering, purchasing, and plant-level decision-makers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- [3-5+] years of experience in mold design, tooling engineering, or injection molding manufacturing.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, or Creo) and Moldflow simulation software.
- Strong knowledge of tool steels, heat treatment, EDM/CNC machining processes, and hot runner systems.
- Solid understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and quality standards (e.g., IATF 16949 / ISO 9001).
- Excellent bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish is a plus, if applicable).
