Details Work in a 28-bed Surgery Room (including 2 hybrid rooms for CV/Vascular) at a 794-bed, Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated, Comprehensive Stroke Center hospital in Oak Lawn, IL, approximately 45 minutes from Chicago High-volume OR averaging 60–75 cases per day across outpatient, inpatient, and trauma populations Case mix includes GSW, stabbings, kidney and heart transplants, donor cases, general surgery, GYN, urology, robotics, vascular, ortho, neuro, and open hearts/CABGs Approximately 20% pediatric cases including open hearts, appendectomies, and cholecystectomies; no liver or lung transplants performed Hybrid room handles 5–10 cases per day (adults only) including TAVR, AAA, endarterectomies, angiograms, and fistula revisions Facility participates in Gifts of Hope organ donation cases 10-hour day shift, 10:45 AM – 7:15 PM; OR operates 24/7, 365 days a year Weekday OR hours are 7:30 AM – 11:00 PM with a skeleton crew for trauma and urgent cases after 11:00 PM; weekend hours are 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM with a skeleton crew after 5:00 PM Schedule is rotation-based on a 6-week cycle; no self-scheduling Weekend rotation: one full weekend (Saturday and Sunday) every 4th week On-call required: 3 call shifts per 6-week period including 2 weekend shifts; 30-minute response time required No floating required EMR: Epic (experience required); IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis Requirements Active Illinois RN license required Current BLS certification required Minimum 2–3 years of acute care OR experience required; most recent experience must be within the last year Ability to both scrub and circulate required Level I or II trauma experience required Epic EMR experience required Critical care experience preferred At least 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration Additional Information First-time travelers are welcome to apply Local candidates are accepted at the same rate; no radius restrictions apply Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible Orientation begins with meeting educators and the ANM, obtaining login access, completing online modules, and Epic training, followed by 2 days of unit orientation Department support includes a charge nurse (no patient assignment Monday–Friday), anesthesiologist bedside monitoring, a resource nurse, an Epic super-user, educators, and service line reps Holiday coverage required: 1 winter holiday and 1 summer holiday A sleeping room is available for on-call team members Scrubs are provided by the facility Free parking is available All time-off requests must be submitted via email to the scheduling coordinator RTO requests must be submitted by email American Traveler Job ID P-706997.
