Job Description & Requirements Specialty: CVOR Discipline: RN Start Date: 06/08/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 8 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Days, 5x8hrs Hours: 40 hrs/wk Start Date: Jun 8, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at a Level I Trauma Center in Oak Lawn, IL, requiring scrub and circulate skills with Epic experience. Details Work setting is a 794-bed, Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated hospital located in Oak Lawn, IL, approximately 45 minutes from Chicago Unit is a Surgery Room with 28 beds, including 2 hybrid rooms for CV/Vascular cases OR handles approximately 60–75 cases per day across a wide variety of service lines including general, GYN, urology, robotics, vascular, ortho, neuro, open hearts/CABGs, transplants (kidney, heart, donor), trauma (GSW, stabbings), and Gifts of Hope cases Hybrid rooms see 5–10 cases per day including TAVR, AAA, endarterectomies, angiograms, and fistula revisions (adults only) Approximately 20% of cases involve pediatric patients (open hearts, appendectomy, cholecystectomy); no liver or lung transplants Primary shift is Days, Monday–Friday, 6:45 AM–3:15 PM (8-hour shifts, 40 hours/week) OR operates 24/7, 365 days a year; weekday elective schedule runs 7:30 AM–11:00 PM, with a skeleton crew for trauma and urgent cases after 11:00 PM Weekend hours are 7:00 AM–5:00 PM Saturday–Sunday, with skeleton crew for trauma and urgent cases after 5:00 PM Weekend rotation is one full weekend (Saturday–Sunday) every 4th week On-call requirement consists of 3 call shifts per week: 2 weekend shifts and 1 additional shift; 30-minute response time required A sleeping room is available for on-call team members Holiday coverage required for one summer holiday and one winter holiday No floating required EMR: Epic (experience required); IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis Requirements Active IL RN license required BLS certification required Minimum 2–3 years of acute care OR experience required Ability to both scrub and circulate required Trauma experience at a Level I or Level II facility required Epic EMR experience required Critical care experience preferred At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration Additional Information Orientation begins with meeting educators and the ANM, gaining system login access, completing online modules, and Epic training; unit-specific orientation follows on days 2–3 Scheduling is rotation-based on a 6-week schedule; candidates are assigned where needed and self-scheduling is not available Schedules are typically provided 2–4 weeks in advance Support staff includes a charge nurse (no patient assignment Monday–Friday), anesthesiologist bedside monitoring, resource nurse, ANM, educators, service line reps, and an Epic super-user Scrubs are provided by the facility; parking is free First-time travelers are welcome to apply Local candidates are accepted at the same rate; no radius restriction applies Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible for this travel assignment American Traveler Job ID P-706559.
