American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in Austin, TX, requiring at least 1 year of ED experience and AHA certifications including ACLS, BLS, and PALS.
Details- Works in a 30-bed Emergency Department within an over 400-bed urban hospital in Austin, TX
- Facility specializes in advanced cardiac, ortho/spine, oncology, and maternal fetal care
- Accreditations and specialty designations include JCAHO Primary Heart Attack Center (STEMI Receiving), DNV Primary Stroke Center Plus, Level IV Trauma Center, ECMO, LVAD and advanced heart failure, Maternal Fetal Level IV, and Level III NICU
- Standard patient ratio is 4:1, with 2:1 or 1:1 depending on patient stability
- ED PCTs trained in phlebotomy and splinting are available 24/7
- Department operates a 24/7 fast track and staffs both a triage RN and charge RN around the clock
- Night shift schedule: 18:45–07:15
- EMR: Cerner
- No floating outside of the ED
- 13-week contract
- Active TX RN license or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience in an Emergency Department setting
- Required certifications (all must be AHA): BLS, ACLS, PALS
- TNCC certification required (renewed every 4 years)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- NRP certification required (AHA/AAP)
- CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) certification required — must be an 8-hour course, renewed every 2 years
- Diploma from an accredited nursing school or required professional licensure at time of hire
- Must possess a valid US Social Security Number
- Must provide a valid US home address (international addresses not accepted)
- Driver's License required for consideration
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Full SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Deliver direct patient care in accordance with clinical protocols, safety standards, and quality improvement guidelines
- Assess patient conditions and communicate critical updates to the interdisciplinary team to support timely care decisions
- Collaborate with the healthcare team on discharge planning to ensure safe transitions and continuity of care
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Local candidates are accepted; however, candidates residing within the facility's radius may be eligible at a reduced pay rate
- COVID vaccination is not required
