Join a travel Physical Therapist assignment in Alexandria, VA, in an outpatient setting where you will help patients recover from injuries and manage chronic conditions while experiencing a new locale. This role emphasizes patient-centered care, clinical documentation, and professional development within an interdisciplinary team.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program approved by the APTA.
- Active Virginia state PT license required to start the assignment.
- BLS certification from AHA or ARC may be required.
- Minimum 6 months of outpatient physical therapy experience preferred; 6 months experience is noted by the client as required for consideration.
- Experience performing comprehensive evaluations, creating and implementing individualized treatment plans, goal writing, and discharge planning in an outpatient setting.
- Competence in completing timely, accurate medical record documentation including functional quality indicator assessments and letters of medical necessity.
- Ability to supervise and delegate to therapy aides or other discipline-specific staff and to participate in student education when assigned.
- Maintain professional licensure and fulfill state-mandated continuing education requirements. Adhere to state practice act and professional codes of conduct.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with outpatient electronic medical records and charge entry processes.
- Previous participation in performance improvement initiatives or familiarity with clinic quality programs.
- Prior experience with safe patient handling protocols and workplace safety programs.
Assignment Details
- Schedule: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM daily, 5x8.
- Assignment location: Outpatient clinic in Alexandria, VA (travel assignment).
- Duration: 13-week assignment.
- Start: ASAP.

Impacting Patient Care
Evaluate assigned patients and develop, implement, and modify treatment plans based on patient needs, goals, and physician direction. Ensure delivery of functional treatment programs supporting effective return to community activities. Complete timely, compliant documentation and ensure care is provided under valid physician orders and within insurance approvals when applicable. Participate in student instruction when assigned and pursue ongoing professional development. Demonstrate adherence to organizational safety practices and contribute to performance improvement initiatives.
