American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with burn unit experience for an acute care hospital position, working every weekend in the burn unit plus one weekday shift per week.
Details- Acute care hospital burn unit setting with potential to assist in outpatient PT if time allows
- Patient population consists of burn patients with 0–100% TBSA burns presenting with pain, surgical dressings, and needs for mobility and positioning to prevent contractures and scarring
- Patient caseload ranges from 2–8 patients per day depending on season, with higher census during cooler months
- Schedule requires working Saturday and Sunday in the burn unit, plus one additional shift Monday–Friday (3x12-hour day shifts, 8:00–20:30)
- Must be able to float within the inpatient setting
- Epic EMR experience required
- Minimum 1 year of physical therapy experience required
- Burn unit or inpatient acute care experience strongly preferred given unit assignment
- Epic EMR proficiency required
- Active Louisiana PT license required if applicable
- Current BLS certification required
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
- Supervisor reference dated within the last 12 months required for consideration
- Any employment gaps of more than 30 days must be listed and explained
- Primary responsibilities include evaluation and treatment of burn patients, with a focus on mobility, positioning, and contracture and scar prevention
- Opportunity to assist outpatient PT with evaluations and therapy as census allows
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Open to first-time travelers
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates
- Up to 5 days of RTO permitted for this assignment
- Former permanent employees of any LCMC facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
