American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Med-Surg/Oncology position requiring active chemo certification and at least 1 year of oncology and PCU experience.
Details- Level 1 Trauma, acute care hospital setting on a mixed PCU, Med/Surg, and Oncology unit
- 28-bed unit serving adult oncology and trauma PCU patients
- Daytime RN ratio is 1:4 for PCU patients and 1:5 for Med/Surg patients; nighttime ratio is 1:5–6 patients
- 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a)
- Every other weekend required
- Self-scheduling unit
- RNs may be required to titrate insulin and cardizem drips; common drips include chemotherapy, heparin, cardizem, and protonix
- Alaris IV pumps in use
- Liko lifts available in even-numbered rooms; additional lift equipment also available
- EMR is Epic; recent Epic experience within the last 6 months is noted during orientation planning
- Floating required to same level of care (Med/Surg and PCU units)
- 13-week contract
- Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active, pending licenses not accepted
- Current BLS (AHA), ACLS, and ONS/ONCC certifications required — pending certifications not accepted
- Chemo certification required
- Minimum 1 year of oncology and PCU experience required
- At least 2 years of overall RN experience required
- Familiarity with hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, A-line, Swan, EV-1000) and ventilator management is beneficial; real-time training available
- Driver's license required for consideration (used to verify permanent address)
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (permanent address verified via driver's license)
- Candidates may not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
- A pass/fail, open-book skills exam is administered during orientation; a score of 90% or higher is required to pass
- Orientation is approximately 2 days (12 hours)
- Unit is supported by nursing assistants, charge nurses, PT/OT, RN case manager, social worker, educator, and dietician
- Common patient diagnoses include oncology (diagnosis through remission) and trauma
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them will result to contract termination
- Candidates who were previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms at CommonSpirit facilities may still be considered
- RTO must be disclosed upfront; 7 days or fewer per 13-week contract; no additional RTO will be approved after submission
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
